About The Girl and the Machine
‘If you could choose a personal fur or skin like an animal, what would it look like?’
From the day Rosanne van der Meer (1979) and Annelie Ansingh (1975) met at fashion academy they shared a fascination for the concept of animal skin.’ Animal skin has individuality, beauty, and fits perfectly. It is durable and has proven to be a great evolutionary success. What if we could offer this concept to people?’
In the years that followed, Rosanne, who was working as a pattern- and samplemaker, learned all about knitting. She took a job as a hand knitting designer and further investigated 3D knitting. Annelie, who had returned to her former profession of copywriter and art director in advertising, kept working on the concept too. After their first consumer tests with ‘3D knitwear on demand’ in 2016, the outlines of a company started to show. Since Januari 2018 Rosanne and Annelie have officially become partners and are on a mission with The Girl and the Machine to make the world a bit better – and more beautiful.
